WALK - MONDAY 6 JANUARY 2025 - RIBEIRO DAS CANAS

[Linda and Russell]

Linda and Russell will be leading this walk. It's around 10 kms on mostly good tracks, no tarmac, one gradual long uphill, the rest mostly flat or downhill. It is in an area of remote countryside. There are 2 water-crossings which should be easy to jump over. We should get nice views down into the valley as we wind our way around the the top of the hill. Usual rules: wear good footwear, bring a pole if you use one, bring a drink, walk at your own risk, no charge. There will be water for the dogs near the start and end of the walk.

MEET 10.00AM. Cafe Casa de Pasto Riba E Terinha ar Rasmalho. Directions: From the N125 at Portimao turn off and follow signs for Monchique. Go straight ahead at the roundabouts, go onto N266 direction Monchique, pass a petrol station on the left, after 1km you come into Rasmalho. The cafe is on the left. Park on the right as we will be driving a further 2kms to the start of the walk.

The cafe should be open for those wishing to arrive early for a coffee. We may stay for lunch at the cafe in Rasmalho after the walk. They do a set menu for 11 euros.

A nice walk today with 9 walkers and 1 dog. We were lucky with the weather as it rained at the cafe before the start and then the sun came out. I took a lovely photo on the walk but the computer wont accept it so hard lines, no photo today. We had a nice lunch at the cafe in Rasmalho after.
