Google Television
Has anyone tried to access television material in PT using a Google Chromecast web stream thingy? My daughter recently bought one for her bedroom, £30, plugs in to the ring main and a HDMI socket on the tele. You select a programme on an app. on your 'phone then the two 'speak' to each other and the 'phone streams what you select to the Google thing. Any experience of this? I'm not sure myself whether it'll work there as I can't usually access the BBC IPlayer even though I seem to have reasonable internet connection.
Thanks.

Yes Google chromecast, works great here, you just need to use Google crome as your browser, or download the app to your phone or tablet, best results are obtained with a good internet speed.
Re: Google Television
can you get sky, netflix etc on this gadget in PT ?

Re: Google Television
Sky no, as they block all HDMI screening, not sure about Netflix but I think you can, you may need a VPN to hide your location.
Www.strongvpn.com is good only 40$ a year.

Re: Google Television
I think you will find that Google Chromecast needs to on the same internet connection as the Ipad. If you are using a VPN on the I pad it won't be. You can get Filmon without a VPN and project it on to the TV via the app. I have done this but the picture quality is much poorer than going via an Apple TV box.

Re: Google Television
Pardon my ignorance, do you have to have a VPN to make this work in Portugal, or can you simply connect to your router/ smartphone and you're set up?
Re: Google Television
The VPN is great as I can now watch netflix and sky on my iPad, just wish I knew how to connect my ipad to TV screen then hey presto!

Re: Google Television
You need an Apple TV box which plugs into your TV's HDMI socket; then using your home WiFi system you can access the Apple TV box from your iPad.Aldo wrote:just wish I knew how to connect my ipad to TV screen then hey presto!

Re: Google Television
Sky is very clever, it will not let you watch football etc by using an Apple TV and HDMI connection
We'd use our Apple TV and I pad using Film On, the app is free and you can get hundreds of channels as well as the basic English channels
