I must stand up for sunman here ! He has given a load of good advice to CB which seemed to be mainly ignored along with a lot of other people's advice and now we have this strange topic about flights - all of which also led me to question whether this was a wind up !
As CB was advised early in his postings there is a wealth of information on this forum which should be trawled through and used before making any big commitments.
As for flights there aren't that many airline options and if I am looking to make a booking I trawl through the various web sites to see what possibilities there are. This time of year there are a reduced number of flights so it's fairly quick - in the summer the options are there but at a price. The days of easily getting a last minute flight for a short trip are long gone. To be honest I couldn't be bothered to respond to this topic as the answers are there to be found by a little investigation plus the fact that previous advice had seemingly fallen on stony ground.
We are all very happy to help but patience can only be stretched so far and I can quite understand sunman's response.

Many of you know of my repeated questions on this forum and I make it clear many responses have been a God send. In addition we now have a growing number of friends. :D

I still think some of the comments made on this thread are unwarranted. It was a general question and anyone posting could choose to ignore. CB is not ignorning help given. When I first purchased a plot of land I had no idea it was going to lead to so many problems. Our situation could not have been forseen. I also make it very clear I loved CVO in general and had no desire to be in Spain because of a bargain could have been had. I personally loath La Manga strip.

I NEVER checked flights to destinations to base on where I was buying. In any event flights may be laid on one minute and not the next. All you need to know are there flights with a number of companies from your chosen airport. Sorry but I truly find it hard to believe people base their purchase on available flights after work at the weekend. That's it got it off my chest. :D

Dear Licy, Pointersister,

I'm sorry that I've managed to upset you, it's not my intention to do that; & if you look back at CB's other topics you'll see that I was among the first to offer my help & advice, I'm a big fan of our village & of this forum & what it offers.

I too bought a piece of land, in my case a very long time ago now, and had a villa built; 5 weeks after I got my title deeds the reasonably well known builder went bankrupt and lots of people who'd not reached the title deed stage lost a lot of money, including several people I knew, since then I'm sensitive about people who bring money to the Algarve, & I want them to be looked after, and I care about what happens to them.

- Let's assume that CB is real (& I'm not saying he or she isn't, I'm just finding the story a little tall).
he has a bid in for a villa which, he has said, is at the high end of his budget, I'm assuming that means that after he's put his €300k on the table he doesn't have much of a buffer left.

Me, & lots of other members here have rung large bells about what he might be getting into with the villa that he's presented on here.

you're both telling him to press forward, ignore the detractors etc.; fine, that's your opinion and I respect them, but what will the members of your nice people of Carvoeiro club be able to offer in the future when he's nursing a bottle of Crystal outside Mungo's with his head in his hands when he's been hit with another large repair bill that he can't afford?

I'm a warn before rather than an I told you so after person; I've rung my bells & will say no more on all this; & like I say, I'm sorry I upset you.

Apology accepted Sunman. :D I fully accept go in with your eyes open. I understand CB has been made aware of certain issues that will need resolving. I am coming out on Thursday for a long weekend and I cannot tell you and the forum how happy I feel, DESPITE, the awful 10 years we had trying to get a finished villa. End of the day we had to get a mortgage which was NEVER expected. I cannot look back at the situations that took place, costing us untold mental stress and money. I can however look forward and feel I am LUCKY! We have what we think is an amazing villa. :D

Licy, I had no idea that your villa (aka Palace) was a ten-year labour of love from looking, buying and finally completing!

I assumed you bought the land and immediately started making plans to monitor/supervise the construction and that took the best part of two years; of which was a well-documented anxiety process! Behind the beauty of your property was the beast of buying, planning, worrying, financing and building! A sobering thought!

It is great to hear that buyers are still coming to the area. The more the merrier. I agree with your comments, if you have nothing positive and constructive to say, just keep quiet. We have our place in Carvoeiro since 2010 and love it. We have met such brilliant people who have added to our lives in so many ways that I can't begin to tell you. So ignore the negative comments and enjoy the exciting journey that you are travelling on. Life is short so just seize the moment. :D
