Static IP Address
Looking for advice, had MEO broadband installed in June and it's been great. However need to upgrade from dynamic to static IP address, have asked local rep, been to MEO shop in Aqua Centre in Portimao with no success. Does anyone have or know how to get a Static IP address?
Thanks,
Cooler King

Re: Static IP Address
I don't think that's what they mean. This simply sets the IP address that allows the devices on your local network to communicate. The service provider allocates a gateway IP address that allows the router to access the ISP servers. This is normally a dynamic leased address that could change. It's this address that identifies where you are in the world and prevents you accessing iPlayer and the like from outside of the UK. I'm guessing the MEO might want it changed to a static address that hides the fact that you are in Portugal.

Hi , Cooler king, (actually you look nothing like him) the question has to be asked as to why you think you need a static IP address?. It may be more beneficial if you use a service provider who can set you up with a UK based VPN.
