Martin - no 'doom and gloom' from me - I like it quiet. However, I do have sympathy for the traders who need to make a living all year round. Regardless of the expert opinions/predictions from all of us who live and make a living elsewhere - the locals do not share our optimism.

It is very sad about Irish Times, I have just spent Xmas with my father Stuart & his partner in Messines, his partner of some years is Elena who worked in Irish Times and is now sadly along with the others out of work. If anyone on here knows Elena you will agree that she worked so hard and is desperate to find any work in Carvoeiro or the surrounding area. She will take on anything, cleaning, ironing, waitressing & bar work, so please if anyone knows of anything please reply on here with contact details and I will pass the information on to her. Thank you :-) Helen

Hi Colin, I most certainly will, it was lovely to spend Christmas with Dad and Elena, but also sad as she should have been visiting her family, but due to her losing her job that all had to be cancelled, and as you probably know Elena is a true grafter and it is getting her really down not being able to find a job.
Thanks for your kind wishes, i will pass them on now.

Hi Helen,

We have an apartment in carvoeiro and may require a new cleaner. Could you please send my mobile no. to Elena, we know her very well from the Irish Times and she will know who we are. My mobile is 07742 577378.

Many thanks.

Hi Debbie & Neil,

Thank you so much, i have just called my Dad and he has taken your details down and when Elena gets home I am sure she will call you.

As soon as I said your names my Dad knew who you were and asked me to pass on his thanks, she is so very desperate to get working again, so fingers crossed.

Kindest Regards

Helen x
