The dreaded car hire,
The dreaded car hire,
Hi! I'm trying to organise the hire of a car for my three weeks stay in Cvo in September, I normally use Steen's company but this year I decided to have a look around at the competition and I came across a company called Argus, they want £605 pounds for the three weeks rental as opposed to Steen 's £700. This price includes insurance, as does Steen's, and covers tyres, windows, locks etc. something Steen's company does not, as I found out to my cost a year or so back.
The quote was based on me hiring a Yaris auto or similar, anyone used this Argus company or have any info about them? I'd be delighted to hear from you if you have or do.

Re: The dreaded car hire,
The point is Argus are not a Car Rental company per se, they are a consolidator who simply book for you with any one of a number of local companies.
You may get lucky, you may not.
You may get lucky, you may not.

Send the info to steen, i'm sure he will match it

Re: The dreaded car hire,
Pato, My favorite topic.......
You will probably be referred to YOR so it will be the same conditions. Best thing is to to consult Steen
and ask the questions first. I presume even if you take out insurance to cover the tyres, locks, windows
in the event of damage the car rental company will take your money and it will be up to you to chase the insurance company.
What happens when your car is broken in to and say the window and locks are damaged. Is this covered
by insurance under theft or not ?
I am sure the car rental company makes a good profit on the insurance to cover the excess
eg- €6 per day to cover €700 cover. Why go down the road of tricking things up, Excess should mean Excess.

Re: The dreaded car hire,
Hi there, I appreciate and understand the support for Algarve Driver but it's all about the money honey as far as I'm concerned. I'm back and forth to Carvoeiro frequently and usually hire a car if I'm there for more than a couple of days. I use, and I've said it on here before, a company called Auto Seasons and have done for 10+ years without a problem, they meet you as you leave arrivals and bring the car to the door once the formalities are completed, you return it as usual to the car park.
I'm back out on Saturday and this is from Auto Seasons........................
.................The booking for a 5 door Renault Clio, AC or similar is confirmed for 11 days at 298,57 Euros. The price includes insurance, taxes and unlimited mileage.
Arrival on 04.08.2012 on FR2503 at 15.05 hrs.
Best regards,
Luis Romeira
Now I think that's reasonable. Pato was looking for 3 weeks hire, I don't know what car group he was discussing, but I guess that should be 569.99 euros x .79 = £450.00 approx. (based on the above)
I've never had a problem with them, 2 years ago I had a window smashed through theft, a replacement car was delivered a couple of hours later and no charges were received for damage etc.
Nothing lost in checking them out.
