Webcams - it looks very quiet
Re: Webcams - it looks very quiet
Perhaps there are fewer people in the bars at night because of the lack of live music and entertainment.
For what ever the reason , if it is down to probelms with excessive noise or rules and regs it is a short sighted policy
We went to Bradys a few times last summer and took others there, this year to be honest no reason to go as there has been no live music and we can watch TV at home.
Rumour has it bradys lost their music license due to a woman living above complaining about the noise, unbelievable

Re: Webcams - it looks very quiet
Commercialism v. quietness eh?
The main town of CVO is heavily residential, well it is in the tourist season. I was not aware that it was that noisy at night but then if you have load music playing until 2am that would drive anybody up the wall.
I would have assumed that over the years people buying apartments or houses in the town would have been accustomed to the noise. Maybe those who have complained has been very long-term residents in the town and the increasing level of noise is affecting them badly.
Reaching a compromise in a heavily commericialized tourist town is going to affect one side to their detriment.

I am in town - yet it is rather quiet. Busy enough to create an atmosphere. Bradys have no live music and I heard it was due to complaints by a new neighbour living above. Went in Round Up Monday evening and they had live music. Plus The Black Stove also had music.
Re: Webcams - it looks very quiet
Bradys neighbour problem has been going on for a couple of years and reached a head last year when the police got involved.
Anywhere playing music now has to be carefull about noise and permits.
We were told that there was a possibility that the live music in the small square outside of Mungos would not be allowed this year.?

I think there's a few people on this topic already owe Happy Dude some £20 notes ...... Or €50 notes when I'm over there in July
Re: Webcams - it looks very quiet
Just wondering if Bradys have their permit for live music yet? Left Carvoeio on July 6th and they still had no music and it was very quiet after 10pm. They couldnt pssibly survive with the poor crowds they were getting.
Re: Webcams - it looks very quiet
Its very busy in town tonight, all the restaurants ae full and there is a great atmosphere. I agree that some of the complexes and villas are not as full as usual,
but all in all its all seems very promising (and richard is nowhere to be seem)

... maybe all the restaurants are full more downtown. Restaurant hill was rather quiet. And I know from many restaurante owners that they are working a lot less compared to last year and that people are very careful with spending money and have a rather suspicious attitude. Most restaurants hardly dare to put the couvert on the table without having the feeling of being a "crime" because it seems to be "so expensive".

It's a case of compromise "all round", people want a holiday without being fleeced and locals trying to run a seasonal business on narrow profit margins to survive the winter slump.
The days of cheap Med holidays are well gone and the days of big profits for business have too. Where will the money come from for all of us to enjoy our holidays once more ?
Well, I'm thinking of starting a financial based holiday club, which will permit "members" to enjoy two weeks holiday in an exclusive beach resort every year for the rest of their lives.
Damn, just remembered, the old Russian regime had the same idea on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Never mind, after the revolution we'll be well sorted !!

We arrived in the village last night.
Loads of people around, the restaurants all doing good business, bars busy, and you struggle to find a parking spot at Intermarche or Pingo doce.
The school holidays start this weekend, and prospects look good apparently.
So let's not be too quick to cry gloom!

It's not a "village" that's a snob term and you know Bruce is a snob. it's a town, for god's sake, it's a seaside town! nothing more nothing less, I've been there for 25 years or more, so I don't need explanations regarding it's geographical status, call a spade a spade and stop posing. I'ts great but it's not a village.ron5000 wrote:I have explained why it is still the village to the long termers, try to keep up and don't let it get to youpato wrote:"VILLAGE"Bruce Wallis wrote:We arrived in the village last night.

Call it what you want, but I am sure it is definitely smaller in population(and maybe even area,) to an average English village.pato wrote:Bruce Wallis wrote:We arrived in the village last night.

Sometimes Pato talks bollocks, and sometimes Pato talks rudely provocative bollocks.
I, like many others, see Carvoeiro as a coastal holiday village, and we are happy and content with that description.
We live in the officially designated Norfolk village of Wroxham. Probably bigger than Carvoeiro by now......but still a village
If leaving Liverpool, moving on in life in a new area, and stopping trying to sound like an 80 year old re-incarnation of a parody of John Lennon, makes me a snob??? Guilty m'lud!
