I presume the Bistro is still open? Coming out soon and enjoyed all my visits there last year.
Breakfast to set me up for the day - and I guess they will have all the Euro 2012 matches on the big screens later in the day/evening?
Anyone know anything?

It was open a few weeks ago and the breakfast did look good.
BUT when on holiday in another country for a week or why do people seek our their full english or sunday roast ??
Our summer breakfasts in Portugal consist of fresh fruit ( grown in Portugal not imported ) and yoghurt and or pastries with excellent toasted breads bought from the local shops.

Is is just something peculiar to inhabitants of the Britsh Isles ??

Surely you should know this being British

Each to their own if that's what people want who has the right to decide what they eat, home or abroad!

Thanks bruce - you got there before me!

I wake at 5.30am and work 40+ hours a week and don't have the privilege of a full English breakfast at home! This is part of my holiday!

Saying that though, I will also be consuming plenty of the local food and drink aswell. :)

The full English is probably one of the unhealthiest meals contrived by man and yet given the time and opportunity its the first choice of many of us.
As has been said the time holidays give alllows us to indulge ourselves.
Even in countries where pork is not eaten a " bacon substitute " is provided for those of us who cannot do without ??

Go for the full English.

Fruit in CVO in the supermarkets is sh#te! You get better quality produce at home in Sainsburys, Tesco, etc.

I assume you are not including Portuguese oranges (especially round March/April/May) or Tomatoes (those big half green ones - love the taste :) ) in that statement. Most of the fruit is not as ' good looking' or as uniform as fruit in UK/Ireland but I find it ok most of the time.

Frozen bacon and sausages have their place if you want your full English, but do not take any notice of Bri Si, you can get excellent produce and value in the Carvoeiro market, in the small supermarket on the " In road " a little further afield buy from the farmers at Silves and lagoa markets.

You will soon discover that fruit and salad has the real taste that sadly we have lost in our glasshouse grown, industrially produced UK supermarket products.

There is another huge difference, if you look at where the products come from you will be amazed at just how many are produced in Portugal.
Not holland, Peru , Kenya etc.

EMM once again you go off topic to spout your opinions.
Here in Lancashire we have tasty home grown fruit and veg, never tasted a better potato than a 'Rufford'
or a 'Southport' tomato.
I sometimes think I live in a different Gt Britain to the one you live in.

The local Silves oranges, grapefruit and lemons in the springtime are wonderful. A tenth of the price of the tasteless oranges and other citrus fruit you get in the UK supermarkets at the same time of year.

In fact if you shop for local produce in the Carvoeiro/Lagoa/Silves area supermarkets, you get some of the tastiest and good value fruit and veg it is possible to buy anywhere.

A tenth of the price? I think not - more like 10 times the price!
