It looks as if there will be very few restaurants, and only about 2 bars open between now, and the new year....such a shame.

I think anyone who was planning on lunching at the Irish Times on Christmas day should phone them to verify the information but as far as I know it will be closing for several months.
From what I hear apart from bar Acordial(?) right at the top, Mungo's & Joker bar no other bars will be open on restaurant hill. Most of the usual suspects will be open around the rest of the town plus a couple of newbies like Rascals.

We are also open throughout the Christmas and New Year period with exception of Monday 19th December and Monday 2nd January. We hope that just because the village is quiet, it does not put people off coming to Carvoeiro and having a great time. It is a wonderful time of year to visit and with the sun shining as it is today, what more can you ask for? There are still restaurants and bars that will remain open throughout the winter so you will be able to find somewhere to eat, drink and be merry.

you learn something all the time on this forum. We are in CVO 4/5 times a year and never knew there was a saxophonist in Talvez on a Saturday, might well have been that we were just never in that particular spot on Saturday but this is good to know for future visits.

The saxophonist doesn't play, he just pops in for a couple of beers :) Just kidding, I'm sure he's excellent and well worth a visit.

Having just enjoyed a great Sunday lunch at Ma-Jas, I wish we were in CVO for their Christmas day fare - I can't wait to take my wife there next March!

Thanks everyone for the responses, we have chosen to go the VilaVitaParc it is only €55 per head for all the trimmings, which by comparison is cheaper than most and the food at VVP is definitely better most. Have a nice Christmas everyone.

if you think €55 is expensive you should have seen some of the menus we looked at, some places are charging more €100 per head for Christmas Day. In fact VVP was one of the cheapest places we found that wouldn't give us food poisoning!
