Easyjet Stansted Airport
Re: Easyjet Stansted Airport
Yes lets hope that eventually Easyjet will return to Stansted, in the main season Ryanair have flights
every day but we shall fly out to Faro at the beginning of October and want to return in November
when I think they will only fly 3 days a week so we will have to try to fit in with the days.

Re: Easyjet Stansted Airport
People have short memories. It's not that long ago that only BA and GO flew to Faro and neither of them flew everyday nor from Stansted. The choice now is far greater with more airlines, more departure airports and more choice of days and flight times plus generally cheaper tickets.
For me, and no doubt for many others in south Essex, east London & Kent, Southend is more convenient than Stansted. As with many changes some win and some lose.
The Easyjet deal with Southend airport runs for a good few years but, as with everything, at the end of the day which routes they operate from there will be based on economics - if fewer people travel to Faro then I'm sure they will change routes. Their routes from Southend starting in April go to Amsterdam, Alicante, Barcelona, Belfast, Faro, Jersey, Ibiza, Malaga and Mallorca so it's quite a commitment.

Re: Easyjet Stansted Airport
Isn't it funny that the only people in favour of this change from Stansted to Southend.....live in ESSEX!!
Wrap it up as reasonably as you like from an Essex perspective....for the rest of us that use Stansted.....this is a disaster

Re: Easyjet Stansted Airport
wel Bruce I am from Essex in fact from Halstead and that is only around 25 minuetes from standsted. I could leave off work in Colchester from 12.30 and stop off at home for a change and pick up luggage and be at stansted for around 3pm for a afternoon flight AND that was convenient but now have to use RYANAIR who in my opion are just a means to an end at the moment.

Re: Easyjet Stansted Airport
Maybe we should write a group letter to the MD of Easyjet, asking for the re-instatement of at least one Stansted/Faro flight a day
Re: Easyjet Stansted Airport

Re: Easyjet Stansted Airport
Ryanair as oppsosed to Easyjet are still doing flights to Faro next year from Stansted so why is there a problem? There is still a service. I do not know if Easyjet is substanially different from Ryanair fares wise. The only thing I noticed about Ryanair flights to Faro is that they are late in the evening at around 8pm.
Re: Easyjet Stansted Airport
No you are right there still is a service to Faro from Ryanair its just that we much prefer Easyjet flights, the cabin crew are always really helpful and you dont have weight restrictions on hand luggage and generally the service is much better. Whenever we have had to travel with Ryanair the service has been bad and the staff not too polite and they just seem to have a attitude problem. But perhaps we have just seen them on a bad day, I am sure a lot of people have had a good service but unfortunately we have not had so far. So lets hope 2012 is a good year for flying Ryanair.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't aware of the disparity of both airlines' services!
When I fly I only one want one thing - a landing

As I live in North Norfolk, and visit the Algarve 6 or 7 times a year, I sent an email to the Chief Executive of easyJet about this decision. This is the reply I got -
28th September 2011
Dear Mr ******************
Thank you for your e-mail to Carolyn McCall, our Chief Executive Officer. Ms McCall has requested that I reply on her behalf.
Unfortunately I don't have any good news for you regarding the Stansted to Faro route. Due to reduced performance this route is being moved in its entirety to Southend for a trial, therefore I can confirm that there will be no flights available for sale for this route from April this year.
I do realise that this affects you and your family and many other passengers in your geographical location, however, our Routes and Scheduling Team conducted an in depth study and due to the results generated felt it would be worth giving Southend a try.
Of course, in this industry, situations can change frequently so this is not to say that this change is a permanent one, however, I did want to be honest with you so that you can begin to look into alternative travel plans.
I can also confirm that we don't currently have any plans to fly from Norwich Airport
easyJet will of course be very sorry to lose your valued custom. I sincerely hope that our future routings are able to suit your needs.
Yours sincerely

So nothing in there about them receiving a whole wodge of money to operate some flights from Southend, just a lame excuse about "reduced performance", and I don'y buy that for a minute.
Even if that is the case then I can't see how moving the flights to Southend solves that problem as it makes very little difference for anyone living south of Stansted, or in London, but it makes a whole load of difference if you live north of Stansted. So how many extra customers will they attract (probably very few) and how many existing customers will they lose (probably a lot).

Re: Easyjet Stansted Airport
A pleasant take-off, a smooth flight and a perfect landing(that seem to be a speciality of female pilots) would be ideal. But there are stressful situations such as turbulence, and in-flight meals!
Re: Easyjet Stansted Airport
Message for Bruce Wallis - thanks for your message, hope you get this - assuming it get's "approved" of course.
Looks like I have to get "vetted" before I'm allowed to reply to your message or send you a PM - strange, never had that on a forum before.
Anyway, the answer to your question is -
carolyn@easyjet.com
It's always at the bottom of her blurb on the first few pages of the In Flight Mag.
By the way, we live in North Walsham, on & off, for around 8 months of the year & spend the rest, on & off, down here in Acoteias.
Not strictly Carvoeiro but at the end of the day it's not a million miles away.
Been visiting this forum for a few years now as a lurker & finally decided to become a member as I thought I had something to add to the discussion.
Kind regards
