Bistro 72
Having just read Margarida's October newsletter, I'd just like to let you all know that I have already experienced Bistro 72's Sunday lunch.
Sitting in the shade, enjoying a cool beverage, I was not particularly hungry until I saw the delivery of the rather delicious looking lunches that were being placed to the 4 people sat on the table next to me.
Within 10 minutes we had ordered our own roast beef and yorkshire puddings! Roast potatoes, mash, stuffing and plenty of fresh veg. Besides beef, there was also the choice of pork or gammon. Very impressive and it filled me up for the day!
On previous visits, I have also had the Bistro 72 breakfast, just what you need to start the day off, and the toasties aren't bad either!!!
I like this place, it is on the out road of the town, and it is in the shade, a welcome relief from the hot sun for an hour or so!

Re: Bistro 72
I've heard good reports about this place, but the decor inside looks like a nightclub & they only have room for about 2 small tables outside in the 'shade' from what I can see, because it's pavement & then parked cars. So I would be more inclined to use it in the evening I think, Do they serve food in the evenings too?

Re: Bistro 72
We have just been to Bistro 72 for Breakfast and true to the reports it was very very good and we were stuffed!! There are tables outside that can accomodate seating for 11 people and dont worry about the shade by about 4.30pm the sun hits the terrace and you can chill with a nice cool beer. They do serve up to 6.00pm and then bar snacks till late of which the speciality is the giant toasties. Yes the interior is very "cool looking" but they show all the football on a giant screen and also music DVD`s

And, because the whole of the front of the property is open, (not just a door), even indoors it is airy, so very comfortabale for eating, drinking and chilling watching the music or sport.
Might have to book my seat for the Olympics next year!

So just snacks in the evening.
I suppose it depends on your definition of 'cool'. Maybe in the seventies.

Re: Bistro 72
I'm not too sure about the interior being 'cool', but I have to say that when my youngest daughter and I had a drink in there during the summer, the staff were very friendly and our freshly squeezed orange juices were both delicious and considerably cheaper than establishments on the square.
Even though they are out of town a bit, I quite like their location. The couple next to us (who looked like they were recovering from a heavy night on the grog), were tucking into a very hearty breakfast - at a very good price.
I would give it a go again. As a matter of interest, does anyone remember what it was before?

Hi Mrs B,
It was Bojangles and before that I think it was Demi's.

Re: Bistro 72
Thank you, Craig.
I always get confused. Is there a place nearer to town (on the out road), that used to be a similar kind of place (perhaps run by English staff), that now seems to be closed? Or is it my imagination playing tricks on me and it is the same place?
Apologies if this is confusing!!!

Re: Bistro 72
I have to say that the decor here has always put me off; I find the choice of blue makes this place look quite clinical. But after so many comments about the food, I decided to try their English breakfast. We sat outside, away from the offensive interior (to me anyway!), mid-morning on Saturday, and the breakfast really was great and very good value. Certainly the best thing for the morning after
Re: Bistro 72
never mind the decor as you dont eat that!the food is excellent as are the staff very helpful&friendly.
Bistro 72
The best ever breakfast I have ever had in a long long time!!! We had decided that we would treat ourselves to a full cooked breakfast this morning, and so we did. The staff are great, the food was excellent, and there were quite a few people in there eating too!! The man on the table next to me had what i can only describe as a HUGE toastie, and when I asked what it was - it was half a toastie!! Definitely recommended!!! Be back soonxxx
Re: Bistro 72
Great! Huge toasties. As long as they're not on Bimbo bread what more could you ask for?

Re: Bistro 72
blue - I can assure you, the toasties are not on Bimbo bread! Nor Nimble, or whatever they used to call the stuff ....
The guy that runs this place goes and collects the bread, freshly made each day, I have seen him to-ing and fro-ing with it in big bags.
Making me feel quite peckish now......

Re: Bistro 72
Walked past Bistro 72 earlier today, busy and the plateful of english breakfast looked and smelt very very tempting. Those lucky to be tucking in looked very pleased with themselves! Reckon we'll give it a go.
Re: Bistro 72
It seems like the place for breakfasts. We'll give it a go.
