Water or rather lack of it

Post by shanagarry »

Does anybody know the current situation regarding the water outage in the Mato Serrao and Sesmarias areas?

Apparently it is a ruptured water main in Carvoeiro - West. At least according to Gambrinus over on facebook! :D

Any idea if it will be back on this evening?

All I can say is thank goodness for the pool! :)

If anyone is desperate for a shower, they are more than welcome to use ours!

Thank you for your offer - unless we get the water supply restored anytime soon - we may have to take you up on it.

We had some water during the night but it's off again now - a ridiculous situation. We understand the problem was a burst water main in Sesmarias which drained the water from the tower there and was repaired at 3.30 pm yesterday - that was going to take 8 -12 hours to refill - don't know the reason for the current outage.

I'm not sure if I am right or not, but going down to the Intermarche this morning I noticed a huge pipe on the side of the road with an incredible crack in it.

(If the water tower is to your right (and the pizza place) and you go down the hill, straight over the roundabout and its there on your right. They were working on it most of yesterday - I didn't see any leaking water but am guessing that could be it.

Water came on for a little while through the night (filled the toilets up!) but has gone again now. We have nearly drained the pool - having to use the pool water to flush the toilet!

Nightmare first few days of our family holiday - no water + 2 adults and four kids = carnage!!

Fingers crossed it comes on again soon. Will they be working on a Sunday does anybody know?

Update No sooner had I posted this but noticed the pool filling up! Looks like we're back in action.

Toilets are still taking a while to fill up but the pool seems to be getting some speed!! Hosepipe and shower outside working now too.

Limited supply - weak water pressure - downstairs only - better than none at all - fingers crossed.

I guess the demand is considerable

One of the pumps in the Sesmarias water tower is broken. Can only be repaired tomorrow. The 'bombeiros' supply water from a truck in front of the water tower.

If you do this make sure there is enough water to go through the filters to the pump or you may burn the pump out. Or turn pump off and risk a green pool.

Looks like they must be doing someting again because we have no water this morning (08:00 hours). I did see the fire engine by the water tower last night and wondered what it was doing there.

I was joking about the pool btw :) - but thanks for the advice.

I thought you were probably joking, but some people might have thought it was a good idea
