We ate there in mid-Sept. Served by a lovely bubbly waitress this time - made for a much better atmosphere. I previously found the blond waitress to be very formal, but not rude. Food good, and good sized portions.

Thanks to this topic being resurrected, we tried A Fonte last weekend for the first time (been coming to CVO for over 10 years), and it was really very good.

An unpretentious typical Portuguese restaurant with neon lighting but excellent cooking.

Our friends, who were CVO Newbies spotted Seafood Rice (for 2) on the menu, called over the waitress and asked her what was in the Seafood rice. With a very straight face (although I did spot a slight glint in her eye), she looked at my friends and answered:
"Well, its a rice dish [pause for effect] with seafood"
Then she turned and left.

Once the laughter died down, they had to order it.

Having read about the Chicken Piri Piri on this forum, that's what I ordered.
There really was a lot of chicken meat on the dish. Not the usual pile of scrawny bones.

But as mentioned before the piri piri sauce comes separately in a jar with a teaspoon to add yourself.
My advice is to ignore the teaspoon and only ladle on the chilli sauce with a toothpick  WOW !

Serving the sauce as an extra is not real chicken Piri Piri, thats just for tourists.

Have to admit, I much prefer my Chicken Piri-Piri cooked in the sauce with an extra bowl on the table - also best if you ask the chef to cook it with extra hot sauce - I've found it's sometimes watered down for the tourists.

I've got a bottle of the sauce at home and always pour a lot in the pan when frying up the chicken - add a couple of home grown chillis and away I go!
