Economy Car Hire. Top up insurance/Servis

Post by destroyer »

Hello all.
I'm trying to establish what ECH now offer by way of top up cover, ie so that whatever might go wrong the punter isn't left to pay. I know the standard "full cover" excludes glass, tyres, interior, keys etc. Can't find anything in their FAQ's other than a vague comment that fuller insurance may be offered at the airport. I'd like to sort this before I book.
If anyone who has used them lately would care to let me know how things worked for them on this point I'd be most grateful.
Also, the website no longer seems to specify the vehicle supplier. I know there were some issues with Servis a while ago. Again, any thoughts, or comments on recent experience with ECH, would be appreciated.
Thanks

Destroyer, if you wih to view the car hire companies you need to register. Once registered the companies are shown. There is also the option when boking to add the full excess waiver insurance. We have always found them the best value with good quality cars. :D

If you hire a car in Europe more than once or twice a year insurance4carhire.com is worth a look. I had to make a claim from them last year and after a minor initial hitch it was very straightforward.

One of the things that isn't covered is damage to tyres. In the last year I have experienced two punctures; on both occasions I was expecting to receive a bill for a new tyre maybe €60 +.

Not a bit of it - Drive4fun (part of ECH) only charged me for a puncture repair both times less than €12. I really like this company they encourage loyalty from responsible customers.

I have used Economy car hire for the last few years usually booking Travelrent or Drive for Fun. I have now started using Travelrent and booking with them direct. If you send them an email telling them you want the same deal as you would get with Economycarhire ie fully inclusive with no insurance excess they will give you a much better price.

Hi!

To clear up what you are covered for under our standard terms and conditions,

http://www.economycarhire.com/terms.php

the top up insurance we offer is £1.50 per rental day and covers the parts of the vehicle not covered by the standard insurance such as glass parts, wheels, tyres and underside etc. For full terms and conditions see the link below,

https://www.economycarhire.com/docs/ins ... faq_v2.php

I hope this helps, and if you do book through a car hire broker, you can turn to us if you can not resolve problems directly with the supplier.
