OS 3 Jotas

Post by Gary/Gaynor »

Yesterday the OS 3 Jotas caught fire probably in the kitchen. Fire brigade called out and quickly put it out but think the smoke damage will put the place out of action for a while. Even managed to get me off the beach to watch events :!: :!:

I have fond memories of this place. Sitting outside having lunch it used to amaze me that none of the buses coming down O Farol and swinging around into Barranco never hit the tables!!

The diesel exhaust fumes used to mix well with your sardines as well!!

I've always liked the name. Some names for Portuguese restaurants look much better than the English equivalent would, such as Tres irmaos (can't do the accnets etc), Tia X etc

I used to love this place years ago but for me it just went downhill and sold it's soul to mass tourism. The last time I went (and it WAS the last time) the fish soup was tinned and horrible and the menu had stuff like egg mayo on it. They used to get home made piri piri sauce from someone in Silves but last time it was just a plastic supermarket bottle and I just found the staff offhand and not bothered.
