Another car hire thread......

Post by dodger »

Rights guys and girls I am coming to CVO 18th Aug from Seville and staying till 22nd....now, it looks like bus to Logoa from Seville is our only option as cross border car hire costs are a total and utter joke (unless anyone knows of a company that does otherwise??),then it will be taxi from Lagoa to CVO....does anyone know the cost of said taxi ride roughly?

After this we wish to pick up a hire car in CVO probably on the morning of the 19th to stay with us until drop off at Faro airport late afternoon 22nd but on searches so far the price for even a Ford Fiesta is unreal due to the 1 way drop off fee (circa £170).....so can anyone point me in the direction of a company who will come in at our budget of around £80 to £100 for the 4 days hire???

Cheers
Dodger.

Easy. Get the bus from Seville to Faro and pick the car up from there.

We used easy car last year, they are in fact agents like Holiday Autos and will tell you after booking who is supplying the car, last year ours was from Geurin (formerly National) in fact they have a building just outside the terminal to the right of the arrivals entrance to the terminal.

We had booked a C class car (Astra, Focus etc)for 11 days for £205 I beleive, the same car booked direct with Geurin would have been £389???? When we picked up the car it was almost new and had been upgraded to a Renault Scenic. Drop off is back at the same location just outside the terminal. Only extras to what we paid would have been excess damage waiver if you want it, we arranged our own, and a second driver was i think 30 euros.

No problems at all and will use them next time.

They are NOT cheap in spite of the propaganda they give you on the plane.

I take it from the replies that no one can actually answer my question.....bus to Faro it may be,am I right in thinking the bus would involve a change in Faro to get another bus to Faro airport?

We flew into Seville one year and drove to faro but didn't have to pay a cross border fee but I can't remmeber the car hire company name. So I suppose that is not much help for you
Hope you get sorted.

Hi Dodger - From Lagoa bus depot a taxi will cost approx 8 -10 euros depending on where you are staying in CVO. There are Budget and Europcar rental offices on Rua Do Barranco (the out road), plus several places in town that act as agents. Problem at present with prices is that there is a shortage of rental stock due to economic climate and therefore not many deals to be had.

Thanks for all the useful replies......we are going to bus it from Seville to Faro, taxi to airport from Faro bus station and pick up car hire from the airport. It works out cheaper on the whole after adding up the Bus cost ,taxi fare and car hire from airport/return to airport against the Bus to Lagoa, taxi to Cvo then car hire with 1 way drop charge.Oh and I reckon I will be in Cvo quicker doing it this way! :P

Dodger try economycarhirecom, they do full insurance no excess. look for travel rent, drive4fun or rentauto companies within their website, leave the other companies alone.
