A few questions regarding Carvoeiro..
A few questions regarding Carvoeiro..
Hi, any help here would be greatly appreciated!! I was in Carvoeiro 2 and a half years ago and absolutely loved it.. ever since I have said I'd go back, and it now looks like I have persuaded two of my mates to come at the end of may/start of June.
1. Is the roundup saloon still there/ still as buzzing with atmosphere like a few years back/ Irish dave still playing guitar/ same staff still working etc?
2. Similar questions regarding Mungo's bar?
3. Prices in Carvoeiro... e.g. average price for a beer etc?
4. Last time I was in October and it was fairly busy... now returning in early summer, three 19 year olds.. am I right in thinking the place is buzzing with tourists at this time of year?
5. Looking to play one or two rounds of golf, without bringing clubs/ 2 of us haven't got handicaps etc.. local courses and club hire prices?
6. Probably staying in Solferias apartments... thoughts?
thanks very much in advance for any help with these and any other useful information you may have...
.. so excited to return!!!

Re: A few questions regarding Carvoeiro..
REFGOLF,
Visit the Golf shop at the top end of the old in road they will be able to provide you with clubs etc and book T times.
In july budget on at least 60 euros/round/ person incl club hire.
You will also need golf shoes ( soft spikes ) as apart from Val de Minho you will not be allowed to play without them.

The exploits of Irish Dave were given a 2 page spread in The News of the World.
Re: A few questions regarding Carvoeiro..
Visited CVO many times, including 2 weeks in Solferias in 1998 - very basic accommodation which needs a complete refurb. (Have a look at Trip Advisor or similar).
Apparently, the modernisation has been on the cards for many years but still to materialise.
We passed there last July and it still looked very sad.
In addition, if you walk into CVO its gr8 going down to the village, but you have to negotiate 'Cardiac Hill' on the way back (no joke after a few Sagres)!!

Re: A few questions regarding Carvoeiro..
Apparently the solferias were renovated in 2002... maybe more suitable now? to be honest, for us its mostly about a secure place to stay/store valuables etc as we shall be out a lot. Although a nice enough pool would be desirable for lazing about through the day!! And we would probably make use of the tennis courts that are available too!
Re: A few questions regarding Carvoeiro..
Its basic but acceptable. If you do not expect to much of the place, then you will not be dissapointed. The hill up for walkies is a killer
