Meia Preia
Meia Preia
Not quite to do with Carvoeiro but does anyone know if now that the Portimao Camaras has rejected the application for Meia Preia to become an official nude beach, are people still using it? My wife and I have been coming to Carvoeiro for the last 12 years and found it a very peacefull and un-crowded beach where one can slip out of the cossie as others do there. As we get older and find travelling harder does anyone know any quieter beaches nearby? Thanks

I don't know about Meia Praia at Portimao but I know that the Meia Praia beach at Lagos certainly has an area that is used by naturists.

Well I heard that Michael had sub-contracted this particular responsibility to Patoblue wrote:Michael don't you have to verify all the information you post on your section?

Pebbles - Thanks for your response. My wife and I did once try Amarcao de Pera (Praia Grande) but I am sorry to say that as well as being more for the "male/male" fraternity their are a number of undesirable local men who prowl the dunes and openly pleasure themselves. My advice would be to stay well away from A de P there are far nicer beaches in the Algarve to enjoy "au natural". Griff

Hi - New here, staying here for the summer helping look after a friends villa. Spent last year in Spain and loved the relaxing attitude to naked sunbathing there. A friend of mine told me about a little cove by Albandeira beach. Its fantastic I have been quite a few times now. Sometimes there are maybe 8-10 people stripped off other times there are just a few, mostly stripped off as it is so remote. Occasionally there are the odd men who stare down from the top of the cliff.
When you get to Albandeira beach with the sea infront of you go left across the cliff path, after 10mins or so you look down on a smallish sandy beach which looks like it has no access. But walk a bit further arlound to the back of the beach and there is a small path cut through the undergroath that leads right down to the beach. If you didn't know about it you would miss it. Take care as it is a bit steep.
My girlfriend also took me to another even smaller one between Albandeira and Marinha. Really quite but only room for maybe six people.
So I think there are places on the Algarve but its not just publicised as much
Happy Tanning !

Re: Meia Preia
Thanks for the information, we are coming to our friends apartment near Marinha (not far from Albanderia)in a couple of weeks, so we will have a stroll across the cliff tops and check it out. Probably stop for a snack at the cafe, I went once before and I if I remember correctly it did great crepes. Thank you. Griff
Re: Meia Preia
We visited the one that did the crepes, great beach and walk through the cliffs and dunes.
Was rather disapointed with the crepes and service, especially as so many people raved about the place. Perhaps it was an off day, but found it overpriced and of poor quality and sooooo slow. He did apologise as he had seemed to forget us. But to wait an hour for a cheese and ham crepe, 1 beer 1 chilled juice, was a bit long. Cannot remember the price, but it was steep.
The beach is fab (May 2008) did not see anyone in the nuddy

SallyJane-My gf and I stopped at the cafe one day that you and Griff mentioned we only had a soft drink but lots of people eating crepes...they looked good! You definitely wouldn't have seen any nuddys on that beach. Next time when you look at the cafe go to the left and walk over the rocks to the next cove and there I will be. Was there yesterday its so peacefull...only us nuddys on the beach us two girls, three other couples and a single chap (must be a waiter at a nearby hotel always comes down at same time 2pm) and all of us as nature intended. To all those who havn't done it - go on give it a go ! Also like to add I spoke to the friends who own the villa and told them about the little beach, they said it is accepted there but they warned me about going to the A de Pera as they said the dunes at the back were full of strange people like Griff said. See yah. SB
