I don't think so - that is now part of the road for traffic coming down past the GNR station. There is a No Entry sign on the other side.

It was stated when the project was announced that it would cause a 'degree' of inconvenience for several months - this is just the beginning.

only thing was, the road wasnt shut, so this resulted in people driving over the wet yellow paint, so goodness knows where the dashes dots and other squiggly lines will lead drivers now..

Have jst looked at the praicvo web cam piccies of both the square and the beach, it looks very much a work in progress. Are they keeping the thingy in the middle or is that earmarked to be pulled down as well?

If you look at the way the Portuguese construct buildings you could be forgiven for thinking it will all fall down when they take away those steel rods - but they don't. I think the square will will look fine when the work is eventually completed.

However, don't hold your breath waiting for that completion and in the meantime look beyond all the rubble and noise and envisage something akin to the Portimao waterfront (neat and tidy).

I remember the 80's on the Algarve when steel rods were a luxury - then it was carefully chosen wooden stakes fashioned from young trees which held each floor up during construction. Presumably EEC health and safety rules ended this practice.

Theres a bloody great hole on the beach adjacent to the wall thats been knocked down. Is it for rubble?
I see people are still making it onto the beach, and the sun doth shone today, it looks likes on the live web camera.
Progress seems somewhat hapzhazard, quick on the remove of the square per say and just more holes since then. Perhaps the holes will make a pretty pattern?
