 everybody in the square survived when it was all dug up a couple of years ago (was it that long?) for the drainage/sewerage works which lasted for ages and the smell wasn't so good at times. I really can't see that this is going to make a huge difference at this time of the year.

Wolfie

In addition to the development of the ruin - the entire around the square is going to be turned into a pedestrian area with some vehicle access but no parking.

I was in O Patio over New Year and they tell me that a completion in 2009 is highly unlikely - because of the work in the square - and there is every possibility that the ruin is not replaced/refurbished at all.

Have jst looked at the praicvo web cam piccies of both the square and the beach, it looks very much a work in progress. Are they keeping the thingy in the middle or is that earmarked to be pulled down as well?
Looks all very bleak

If you look at the way the Portuguese construct buildings you could be forgiven for thinking it will all fall down when they take away those steel rods - but they don't. I think the square will will look fine when the work is eventually completed.

However, don't hold your breath waiting for that completion and in the meantime look beyond all the rubble and noise and envisage something akin to the Portimao waterfront (neat and tidy).

Quite a bit of activity today, The Square is fenced off , saw one confused motorist who obviously expectef to park there and was blocking the road to the annoyance of other drivers.

The " out " road has a yellow dividing line painted down the centre ready for eachway traffic. ( where will the parked cars go ??

On the " IN " road a gang was act work lifting manhole covers, expect this will be closed in the not too distant future.

More like a squiggly line so you can guesstimate where the centre of the road is. That'll be fun when the first wing morrors go flying and somebody has to measure who's fault it was.

There were actually 7 men gathered around the raised manhole cover, so they obviously had a very important decision to make. To put it back on?

We were in town this morning and a man was trundling along the out road with a painty thing on wheels adding dashes and other lines to the squiggly line - only thing was, the road wasnt shut, so this resulted in people driving over the wet yellow paint, so goodness knows where the dashes dots and other squiggly lines will lead drivers now  But seriously, where will people park, it is bad enough now - but wait until the season starts again!

Will the disabled parking outside the CVO Sol still be available?
