Plumbers & Electricians

My brother in law, myself & our families would dearly love to move to the Algarve , at the moment we are just doing as much research as poss and wondered if there would be any call for time served Plumbers & Electricians, preferably we would like to start up on our own ! what do you think ????

yes for sure you will always do well with plumbing...portuguese plumbing is very poor...electicity is not so bad here but you cannot legally do work unless you are certified.

But a lot do without being certified.............And there is great demand for good service at a reasonable price..........but if your thinkig of UK rates....it wont work..

Thanks for replies, good to know we could possibly build up a bit of a business, we are more interested in the way of life, weather, culture etc than making our fortune, if anybody has any more comments please feel free to let us know. Thanks again..

Sorry to but in here. If plumbers and electricians need to be certified, do car mechanics have to be also?
My husband has been getting a lot of enquiries for fixing cars (something he didn't think he'd be doing here!) and he has many British qualifications for this. Does he also need to get something here before he can work legally?

yes electrics do need certified...risk of death etc but no heard of plumbers or car mechanics
