Have just woken upto the fact that all Aviva Premiership games are now on BT and can be shown through Sky by adding BT1 to the package. Anybody done this? How much and is reception OK in Algarve,

For those interested it has to be done through BT website. £15 activation and £12 per month. All 3 channels perfect reception at the moment. Connection was about an hour after completing details and direct debit.

For those interested it has to be done through BT website.

Which probably means that you need to look like you are in the UK the same as other streams like iPlayer. It's unlikely to be that straightforward.

Not at all , there are just so many " probable and possible " changes not just to FREESAT reception but also to SKY being suggested by " Experts " in the business. What we get today may have no comparison to what we could get by the end of this year and through 2014.
I have seen reports that not just will UK FREESAT ( BBC, ITV, C4 etc ) be lost to the Algarve but also any other channel that is also carried on the same ( new ) Sat footprint and re broadcast by SKY.
It is also reported that SKY is planning to introduce a new card to replace all existng ones in an attempt to re inforce its agreements with subscibers .
It is reported that commercial premises are already switching to the Al jezeera sat which carries Champions league, Premier league etc in anticipation of changes with SKY not the cheapest option but for a bar owner a commercial necessity.

It is very much a " Wait and See " situation.

There are enoiugh mega dishes and masts on Gib to pick up TV from Mars so getting the UK would not be a problem .

Actually they have their own GBC (Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation) which shows BBC & ITV output.

Your toxic reaction to EMM's response is very disappointing - begging the question 'why bother asking' - when you 'know' the replies will come from those familiar with the topic.

This topic has been close to the top of most British ex-pat's agenda for some time and has taken up many column inches in the process. By this I mean that regular contributors to this worthwhile media will be familiar with the impending loss/reduction of UK TV coverage.

Clearly EMM is not on your Christmas card list and I guess that's down to his 'style' of contribution - but he does contribute. Like him or not (and I don't know him) his input is well meaning.

This media has been invaluable to those of us who have been Carvoerians for a long time and have been saved time and money through the guidance and direction from fellow contributors. Can I suggest you use it for that purpose and be grateful otherwise .................

By the way - the answer is NO - you cannot receive BT Sport outside the UK on conventional TV (Sky) - at least we can't - having tried every conceivable connection method.

You can get BTin Portugal. My husband is an avid rugby fan and was every disappointed last Saturday when he coudn't watch on Sky. I rang up Sky and cancelled our sports package, went onto the BT website and arranged all on line - £15.00 a month for the sports HD package. He was watching his match 10 minutes later and the picture is brilliant
