Pronounciation

Somebody asked about how to pronounce Silves and I thought it would be really helpful if we could start a new "subject" where all the most frequently spoken Portuguese words and place names are spelt properly and then phonetically.

What do you think?

Silves I have heard pronounced in 2 different ways; Silv-sh and Sil-vesh, if that helps.
