Quality going downhill?

Hi all,

I have been coming out to Carvoeiro for 29 years now and whilst have done a lot of travelling to other places I always seem to end up back here at least once a year!

However is it just me or is the quality in some of the restaurants not as good as it once was?

We have been out almost every night but Fernado's and Chef antonio's seem to have dropped off a bit in quality. Even O'Cantino's was lacking in substance. I hear that the season has not been a good one overall - mainly due to the world cup and that the economy is not as on the up as it has been, but it just seems that some of the heart is missing.

We have had great meals at Mona Lisa and Algar Seco and the people are just as welcoming, but I wonder if others who have been coming here for years feel the same?

Here's to a better second week! We are off to Casa do Bife tonight and will try Ele and Ela in a few nights!

I must say I tend to agree with you.
For us there used to be 5 or 6 favourite restaurants which were always reliable. Now we tend to keep to 2 or 3 which becomes limited over a fortnight.
