Way down in Virginia
Amongst the tall grown sugar canes
Lived a simple man and a domineering hen
And a rose of a different name

The first time i fell lightly
I was standing in the drizzling rain
With a trembling hand and a bottle of gin
And a rose of a different name

Chorus:
The devil made me do it the first time
The second time i done it on my own
Lord put a handle on a simple handed man
And help me leave that black rose alone

When the devil made that woman
Lord she threw the pattern away
She was built for speed with the tools you need
To make a new fool every day

Way down deep and dirty
On the darker side of shame
I caught a cane cuttin' man with a bottle of gin
With a rose of a different name

Chorus(x2).

Waylon Jennings

Aint no good chain gang
Johnny Cash & Waylon Jennings

Bet it ain't raining back home
Bet your sister's still on the phone
Bet Momma's in the kitchen, cooking fried chicken
Wishing that I hadn't done wrong

Yeah, Momma, don't you worry about it none though
Everything's gonna be all right, Momma
They're teaching us a lot of new things in here Momma
Things like

There ain't no good in an evil-hearted woman
And I ain't cut out to be no Jesse James
And you don't go writing hot cheques down in Mississippi
And there ain't no good chain gang

Papa's reading yesterday's mail
Wishing that the hay was all baled
I bet he's a-wishing we could go fishing
And here I am a-laying in jail

Well, Papa, don't you worry about it none now
Everything's gonna be all right, Papa
They're teaching us a lesson a day we're learning pretty well too
We've already learned a whole lot of stuff already
Things like

There ain't no good in an evil-hearted woman
And I ain't cut out to be no Jesse James
And you don't go writing hot cheques down in Mississippi
And there ain't no good chain gang

Gerry, finding the album is going to be a little harder...I'll see what I can do.

the world is smaller then you think
If that's true, come on over to Austin and I'll show you around. :)

BINGO Gerry, I found an Audio of some talking blues..it's White talking blues (they didn't record too many Blacks in those days).
It's only a "Snibbit", that's Texan (long may it wave) for a sound bite, but it'll give you an idea of what it sounds like.
I'll keep looking....

Fourteen. Seduced by the babysitter (sitting my younger siblings - not me!).

You're on wrong site with this one Michael dear! :)
You should be on Ellies 'Romance'....
There you can tell us the whole story!
Well...perhaps, not the whole story!
But on second thoughts ..it may not be fit for our innocent ears

Hotlips, if I were to tell all I'd be the first victim of the new moderators :P

Anyway, a gentleman never kisses and tells. :)
