brand new in monte carvoeiro square. very good food recommend chicken kiev and cajun chicken. waiter Roy is very chatty and friendly... great atmosphere you must go there!

We tried this out, since it opened during our last visit. No problem with the food, but Rui almost tries too hard. The first time we have had the offer of a free drink and had a bottle of port and a bottle of apricot liqueur left on our table with two glasses. He even apologised for borrowing the port to give someone else a drink! I guess they deserve to succeed.

Elliots is fab. We have eaten there a few times now and I would highly recommend it. The fillet steak is amazing.

We tried this restaurant on our first Sunday in CVO (7.10.07) going on postings on forum. Out of 4 of us only 1 was happy with their meal, prawn cocktail- sauce was non existant, pork meatballs had bits of bone and gristle in, lamb chops - very fatty.
All in all not very happy.

I think you went on the wrong MONTH, Kathy.

Based on the glowing reports above, I ate there in early July and remember a superb meal, beautfully cooked, served at a very reasonable price. I also noticed that with empty tables at all the other restaurants in the 'square', there were diners queueing to get into Elliotts.

Returned at the beginning of October with high hopes, and both of us came away with a very dry and dull taste in our mouths - disappointed.

On leaving the restaurant after dark, I then spotted the huge new flashing neon sign above the door - yuch !. I'll forgive them the occasional bad meal, but unless they remove that sign I won't return - oh, and unless someone else reports a good meal there too

I also ate there twice during early July and couldn't really fault it. My wife had the Cajun Chicken the first time which she said was a bit too Cajun (whatever that meant) but apart from that the six of us enjoyed both visits; and yes there were empty tables elsewhere and queues for Elliots. Hope it improves for next year if it has indeed gone down hill.

[/b]Please do visit. Alex & Corky did run a restaurant in Suffolk UK a plece that we would visit on a regular basis. A long way to go considering we live in east London! During our weeks stay in CVO we visited their new restaurant Elliots twice. WE HAD THE BEST TIME EVER! Food & atmosphere was brilliant. Corky'S STROGANOFF was delicious and Alex is certainly the hostess with the mostest. We'll be back JOHN RON JENNY JAYNE XXXX

We did revisit, the place was very quiet, but the food was fine. Think Alex must have been working with Corky in the kitchen, since the one person working front of house was the hostess with the least. Made the whole experience somewhat sombre, until Corky popped out to say hello.

they are not there now but it was in thorpeness, near aldeburgh, it was a cafe in the day time but at night is was a bistro, they have sold up and moved to portugal.

it was the one opposite the mere, the one on the corner but someone has bought it and is doing it up, supposed to turn it into three flats and a restuarant, i don,t think is is open at the moment. that's the story we were told.

There is another cafe by the mere where you can get something to eat in the day time though, you more than likely know anyway.

Went back to Elliotts Restaurant, april 2008 twice while we there on holiday.
I have been to the far corners of great britain, anstruther in scotland, hectors fish bar in jersey, aldebugh fish and chip shop, sufolk and weston-super-mare, all GOOD quaility fish and chips well known in their area's BUT ELLIOTTS IS THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS I HAVE EVER TASTED and they are a restaurant not a fish and chip shop.
We have only been to portugal twice and have been to this restaurant four times and have not been disapointed, the food is cooked and served with compassion and Corky and Alex just make you feel you have to see them again, we will be back with our mates Ron and Jen.

Went to happys three times this time, we also enjoyed it there as well, with happy's you have a laugh, good food and good price, with elliotts, better surroundings, more intimate, soft back ground music which i liked, puts you in the mood, makes you feel ike you are on holiday, good food, ( really good choice on menue ) and they make a fuss of you because they want to, that's how we felt any way.
