Christmas Lunch

I apologise in advance for this post as it seems to have been asked before but despite the previous posts I am sorry I still cannot find any info on this site re which restaurants do xmas lunch.

This year is our first Christmas in Carvoeiro, we don't arrive until Christmas Eve and I am worried that we might end up Christmas lunchless if I don't get my act together. (don't really fancy just toast and Superbock...well, OK Superbock's fine but not the toast)

As a newbie can any of you kind Carvoeiro veterans out there help me from your experience with some tips as to which restaurants in Carvoeiro are usually open for Christmas lunch so I can try and get booked in somewhere?

The Clubhouse at Vale de Milho I believe offer a very reasonable traditional Christmas Lunch.

We had a lovely Christmas Day Lunch at the O'Farol restaurant on Rocha Brava a few years ago.

Funny you should say that Rob Unfortunately I don't like children (that is to say I couldn't eat a whole one lol).....

If you do find that you can't get booked in anywhere and you choose to cater at home, let me know I can get something in for you when I do my shopping on Christmas Eve.

I believe that bojangles bar and grill are doing xmas lunch and a New years dinner and live music i spoke with them and they have bookings already for xmas lunch its a three course.

Does anyone out there know what Bojangles' reputation for food is like? I had always thought it was better known as a bar than an eatery...

We have booked at Maximes for Christmas Dinner in the evening (they are not open at lunch times) if this helps. They are doing a set menu. Not sure what on earth we will do on Boxing Day etc, but I am sure something will be open.

Will the supermarkets be open until Christmas Eve or do they shut?

Christmas Eve is a Sunday so not sure how it will work out with supermarkets etc As that evening is the big one for local people those that do open will not be open too late I suspect.

Does anyone know if any of the supermarkets are open on Boxing day as we will be arriving in the morning and may need some provisions.

They are normally Von Von. They don't celebrate Boxing Day in Portugal, as far as I am aware that is a British tradition.

I am not sure about New Years Eve, the last two we have spent at the Casa do Bife, but it's not that big and can get a tad claustrophobic (sp). We normally go down to the beach at midnight and then on to a bar or two.... last year it was Roundup
