Water Softeners

Can anybody offer any advice please on suppliers of Water Softeners in the Algarve.

Hi, we got ours from Autoheat of Porches (on the main N125) and it is great, we didn't really think about the fact that you also need a plain water tap in the kitchen as you definitely can't drink water that has gone through a water softener. We have clean water taps for the garden as also you can't water the plants with it either. So think about where you need clean water taps too.

joro sell a make called kinetico...benefits of this make is that apart from adding salt and changing filter every so often there is no maintence from the selling firm (and hence costs)

with regard to tap drinking water cold it is still cheaper to buy a 5 litre bottle for this purpose...we had water softener and never worried about using it for cooking and teas etc..as for tap water rest asured that no coffee bar here is using bottled water..its all from the mains which has been treated with ???

Just out of interest, why can't you drink softened water?
I understand about not watering with it, that is just a waste of cash.

I know you shouldn't give bottle-fed babies artificially softened water. I think it is because of the sodium content.

Hi, we use the softened water to cook and bottled water to drink, I clean my teeth with the softened water too, ours comes from a bore hole/cisterna which I am not sure about the quality of, hence the being careful. It also tastes quite 'salty' which is another reason.

Aitch yes it is, it is in the bit between the now new 'Church' and the fireplace shop. t won't hurt to go and ask them what they can offer and how much then at least you have something to compare with. I have found them to be very helpful and I would recommend them, but that is up to you

lazerblazer, no I was talking about our place out in Lombos. Here in Somerset we have piped council water which is 'horrible' tastes so chlorinated and chemically that I either use filtered water or bottle water here in the UK.
