mmm --maybe we have Guest2---could it have been in CVO I wonder ---I am drawn to large ones and you certainly need them with all that "Sol"!
Ah--come on Pinkie--dont be like that--youre a great contributor here-- as for the dogs being dragged in --well I hope someone drags them in and gives them shelter poor creatures.
At least if Blobby decided to "make a comeback" he should contribute to the topic in hand --namely --CVOs worst--and we're still waiting!

pinkiebluesky- the dogs had to be dragged in, it raised issues over safety which i think were quite important, not to mention the welfare of the animals.

guest2- i find it intresting that a person who isnt even a member with this site can comment negativley on another persons contribution to it. In response, i comment when i feel it it is neccessary, and not to be negative and criticise- which, lets be honest, is fairly immature. The point of my last post was to put a lighter tone on the topic which had been taken far too seriosly in the first instance.

Pinkibluesky - got to agree with you - the topic got lost when the dogs appeared. But then there werent that many 'proper responses' anyway,so the topic was dying, which probably says a lot for the quality of the inhabitants of CVO.

I think it would have quietly and gracefully faded away if somebody had not come on to try to stir it up by repeatedly insulting the regular posters, and inviting responses, hence the ensuing last 2 pages of total trivia .

You know it is more than possible that the person concerned is doing this just to try to annoy people - so dont you think that he must accept some of the responsibilty ?

Matt K, youve it the nail on the head. Most often it is anonymous guests who are the ones to criticize, often with derogatory comments

As for you trying to put a lighter tone on the debate - thats where the problem started with people being accused of being too flippant.

Getting back to the initial subject started by Pinkie, I hope pinkiebluesky returns to this forum too. He asked the question on who is Carvoeiro's worst but he himself hasn't answered it or given his opinion

Who do you think it is and why

Re. the dogs. If someone thinks they are the worst then that is a valid response to the question

I'm a dog lover but I appreciate that some people have an extreme fear of dogs or just a general dislike to them so their opinion is understandable and certainly not going 'off topic'. I know pinkie said 'people' in his original question but if some 'people' are nit picking because dogs have been brought in to the subject then I think the plot has been well and truly lost

Carvoeiro´s worst?
They are yet to come - no, not all the September visitors

- I mean the gypsies that will invade our tidy little town next weekend in light of the annual festival "N. Senhora da Encarnação".

Is there anybody out there who can shed light on a positive aspect of having them around year after year?

As far as I can see:
They are dirty. They reduce already limited parking possibilities further. They clog up the main street with their sales stands (getting clipped by a wing mirror is surely not the best consumer incentive

). The whole town stinks of piss for a week. Their products are a scam and are likely to fall apart exactly one week after they have left town. Petty theft skyrockets for a couple of days in the downtown area.

I apologise for abusing this topic for a relevant post. Have a good weekend

Why has it had so many views - because its compulsive reading.

All the regular contributors know they are 'on a stage' and they are playing to the audience. All these pseudo insults and vitriolic responses - they're just having fun. Dont be fooled into thinkng they are serious. I wouldnt be surprised to discover that they took it in turns to play mr nasty. Do you notice they never start to jest until a topic is starting to flag - they're quite happy to be serious contributors when there is serious debate, or there are people looking for answers
