CONDOMINIUM - MAIL DELIVERY

Post by Avvie »

Does anyone know how we can have our mail delivered directly to our house? Reception say it might be possible, but Correio say it has to go to reception, We see that other owners have a post box at their walls or in their gardens. :?

Generally speaking, post has to be delivered to the reception on a development. Whereabouts are you?

I know of people on the edge of the development who have their own postboxes, but not any inside QDP

mail delivery

Post by Avvie »

I saw some on the road up to the top pool, also some on the road out to Monte C. Its just a bit time consuming at this time of year with a queue of 40 holidaymakers in a queue in front of you when you just want to pick up the post! Also, its a bit annoying to have each one checked over (only one member of staff does this to be fair) to guessout what's inside each ie bill, credit card, bank etc etc!!!! I'd rather keep my business to myself. I know that if I cancel my condiminium payments and lose rights to use the facilities, they also don't keep our mail and it would all get returned to Scotland! This seems a bit crazy - not to be able to get our mail? However, I do want to use the facilities, but I do want to have my private mail delivered!

Best solution would be to apply for a PO Box in the carvoeiro or Lagoa post office (I say Lagoa, because there are not always boxes available in the Cvo station)

Hi Avvie,

We bought on QDP at the end of last year. We have one of those villas you mentioned on the way to the top pool. We installed a post box, and registered the fact with the Correiro in Carvoeiro. Deliveries started shortly afterwards, without any problems.

Thanks Barry. When you say "registered" do you mean just wrote them a letter or is there a form you have to get?

Hi Avvie,

We simply walked into the Post Office, with our full address details, and a helpful assistant made a note of our address and said she would let the Postman know. We have resident Portuguese neighbours, so it is not too much trouble for him, since they receive mail all the time. Mind you, he might not deliver if he has to get off his motorbike!

Just to confirm what Barry says - we have a villa above the tennis courts on QDP and our resident neighbours get their post delivered every day by the postman on his motorbike - you get the toot to announce his arrival so he doesn't have to get off his bike !
