Earth tremor

Post by biffa »

We had a biggish tremor here this afternoon at 14,17. Measured 5,4 on the Richter with epicentre 117 kms southwest of Cape St Vincent. It was felt in Lisbon, Beja, Evora, Faro and gave me a good shaking in Lagoa!

We felt it too!

 Yes, my husband and I felt it in CVO, Vale de Milho! We thought it was our imagination! I had just gone to get my washing in from the line - it was seriously about to rain - when I heard all the doors in the house rattle! My husband shouted to me, and asked if I had noticed the walls shake! We laughingly agreed there must have been a strong gust of wind!
Does this kind of thing happen often? :o

Hi Digger, thanks for the tip on the loop but I think it is odd how an earthquake which was felt in Cvo probably more than most anywhere appears on the non carvoeiro chit chat site - innit?

I think I must be getting past it!

......I know…….
“chitchat” suggest idle gossip, innuendo, queer bashing and the guest guessing game……… such serious topics as earth tremors (only three senior members could not resist suggesting it was a knee-trembler of a different kind) is definitely not chitchat……innit?

Its a sign that the earth keeps moving, and the Algarve like other places all over the med is close to a bit fault in the earth crest so that makes it a place bound to have earthquakes.Im not bothered just have to be positive about it:-)
