Heating engineer

Post by Debbie »

 We are in need to update our boiler which is currently gas. We have looked at the options as seen on the forum i e gas, electric or solar but wonder if anybody out there is or knows of a heating engineer who can discuss all the various options -including comparisons of running costs and of course, is able/wants to do the job.
All we want is an efficient workable system that will not give us problems once it is fitted! Can anybody help :?:

 Hi Debbie, you could try Autoheat, they are on the N125 near Porches, where the wine tasting place is. tel 282 322 502. Run by an English couple who are very helpful, they sorted out our boiler and central heating as well as the plumbing for us in our house.

I went with my builder to Costa Santos in Lagoa to discuss a heating and cooling system for my villa. Sr Costa Santos did a serious analysis of heating and cooling needs and projected running costs and produced an impressive system which used an electric heat pump with a supplementary gas boiler. In the end I did not go for it because a less sophisticated system at lower cost suited me better but I was struck by his professional approach.

The only drawback is that he does not speak English so you need to speak Portuguese or take an interpreter.

Costa Santos (or his men) did a great job on our place. Full central heating new gas biler and large accumulutor (hot water tank) with electric immersion heater for back up.

He does speak french pretty well, and of course the real bonus for us hot blooded males is that his daughter her runs the shop speaks excellent english, and knows her u bends, valves and flanges...............oh and she is just about the best looking female on planet Algarve.

Thanks for that bit of useful technical info Bob. Costa Santos has just given me a very competitive quote for an electric pool cover which I have told my builder that I will accept. On the basis that my wife has not seen your post I have now realised that there are many subtle aspects of the quote that I will have to go to his shop and talk about- possibly quite frequently.

It's amazing how many times you have to go back to get another washer, o ring, or roll of ptfe tape. If you fancy some variety, then you might like to visit the log burning centre between Porches and the "Big One". The girl in their speakx great english too !!!
