There is a camera shop in Lagoa that used to do them, not sure if they still do but worth asking, go straight across the Lagoa roundabout from Carvoeiro, past O Lotus and it is facing you at the end of the road. Alternatively the camera shop on the 'in' road in Carvoeiro did my residência photos a few years ago.

There is a machine in Intermarche, but it never seems to be working!

I used the camera shop in Lagoa recently for my passport photos. They're good but very strict - don't smile, move the fringe away from your eyes, etc. Hence now I've got a vile picture on my passport for the next ten years!!! The camera shop on the 'in road' is no longer there unfortunately. The Kodak shop, upstairs at the shopping centre in Portimão does them as well.

go straight over the main roundabout from Carvoeiro to Lagoa, keeping O' Casarao on your right, up to the T junction, the camera shop is on the opposite left hand corner

Helen, they are not being strict, they are doing it properly. The photos can be rejected, wasting time at the passport office and money at the photographers.
No smiles, no fringe and just your head in the picture, that is what's required these days.
