4 of us ate at O Tasco last night, not the usual run of the mill menu! We had two starters of green lipped mussels which were superb in taste and presentation, one prawn cocktail, never seen so many prawns in one dish! and one of our party needs to eat dairy and gluten free, she had the poached egg with asparagus, salmon and sauce, this dish as was her main course of sea bass modified for her dietary requirements, the other main courses were one other sea bass, chicken supreme which came with a brie cheese sauce, you could have had mushroom sauce if you wanted and finally my dish of pork loin with risotto all the dishes were accompanied by fresh vegetables, again all superbly presented, the service by Sanders and his staff was second to none! We would highly recommend you try this restaurant if you are looking for quality and value for money.

It's on Estrada do farol or restaurante hill as everyone calls it opposite O Cantinho & The Black Stove. The bill was 29€ each with couver , 1 desert , 4 gin & tonics , 4 large beers & 4 coffees . Plus a free port each.

We have also eaten there and had a good meal, What we really liked was the honesty of the management.Unless you are paying 60euros/kg for Bass or Bream then you will be eating farmed fish but few restaurants tell you this.
On the night we ate there Snapper was also on the menu a fish that I do not think can be farmed as it comes from deep water.

This restaurant gets better every time we go there, and it was great the first time.

This restaurant is one not to miss. The owners,a delightfull young couple Sander and wife Sandra, deserve support as they deliver consistently good interesting food with a smile and offer a level of professionalism and customer service other resaurants should aspire to. Michelin star it is not but the menu offers interesting alternatives to the usual Restaurant Hill fare. I took a large group there and all bar one grumpy old sod (who told Sander he would not be in business by next summer) had a great night and enjoyed the food, the company and the service. In difficult times youngsters deserve encouragement and support for having the ambition and drive to succeed in the face of ever increasing taxes and declining numbers of diners spending less and less.

Give it a try - they really do go the extra mile to please.

a friend of ours used to be a waitress in one of the restaurants along the front in Praia da Rocha, an English family came in once & asked what the fish in the fish & chips was?
she said it was cod, "is the cod English?" the woman asked,
later that evening we decided a good answer would have been, "no, it's Norweigan but has it's visa application in"

we're looking forward to coming next week, will definitely put O Tasco on our list of evenings out, haven't been there for ages, and Taste by the sound of things, feels fun to be a tourist again

We had an excellent meal here last week, the scallops for starters were delicious.
The staff were friendly and efficient and we will certainly return.

feel in the mood to say something good about Tasco after our visit; mainly because they've had a go at a different and varied menu which is a refreshing change from most places on the hill;
scallops, beef carpaccio, mushrooms stuffed with warm goats cheese; mains of duck, nice steaks, seafood risotto; the couple deserve to do well;
hideous IVA means that you pay for what you get, €260 for 8 people, all starters & mains, beers + 2 bottles of wine, 4 coffees,
