Hi Stacey
you will not be disappointed, the square has grown on everyone and there is entertainment from May1st to 30th Sept, pity Sat is a DJ ( I am far too old to appreciate) much preferred the Abba cover band last year!

Re: anything new?
In terms of changes, I would list mainly curtains and ironing board covers.
Beltrami.

Stacey, you seem to be a creature of habit, so you should feel at home, not a lot has changed since my last visit six years ago !!
Re: anything new?
The new cafe/ restaurant next to O patio has added to the ambience in the square.
They need to get their food right ( only small changes needed ) but the extra places to sit eat and drink has certainly added to the numbers in the square at night.

What about prices for food n drink, have they went up much in 2009? How much can i expect to pay for say a cocktail or a 3 course meal in a average priced restauarant/bar?

The cocktail bar at Monte Carvoeiro charge between 4.5 - 5.00 eu with a wide range of "effective" drinks and they sell beer !
The cocktailist and his wife are very friendly and entertaining, with a constant supply of puzzles to distract you from getting sozzled, didn't work with me though ! Had a very happy birthday there. The cocktailist hold the European record for shot glass toppling, 600 in one go, he did it around the fountain in the square outside the bar, apparently it's on youtube.
Average cost of a meal between 10 - 15 eu excluding starter plus the usual cover about 2 eu for bread, butter. sardine paste and olives.
Beer costs about 3.5 eu in the bars and 1.5 eu from the Intermarch supermarket, try the vino verde Stacey, I was getting a liking for the Gato, furry nice.

cheers pete, definitely gonna try the cocktail bar. Yeah we noticed that beer was cheap in the supermarket, that will suit dave lol. Im not a big wine drinker but i can have a glass with dinner. is there anywhere in carvoeiro that sells honey rum?? daves mum got it in pria da rocha a few years ago and she loves it! she gets her daughter to bring it over when she goes to Menorca. Personally i think its disgusting lol.
Cant wait till september!
