By the way, I loved Dublin..spent 3 days there and really enjoyed. Also visited Chapelizod and drank a few guinness in pub there
I could live in Dublin....if the weather was better

I went to Colombos the first time about five years ago and it really is a an excellent restaurant. The food is superb. Each time I stay at Carvoeiro this is my first port of call! Pedro doesn't have a memory but a microsoft GB database as he was telling me things I told him that I completely forgot. There is a restaurant in the main town I did not like at all but I shan't name them as these people have to earn a living and what I find bad others may find good. Tastebuds are so subjective!

I would never eat in Colombo's again because in 1987 my mum was bitten on the arm by a mosquito whilst sitting in the lower courtyard. I saw the mosquito on her arm and tried to whack it but it flew away before i could get it and it left a trickle of blood running down my mum's arm.

Sorry, but you have to be kidding...... yes????? I don't think Colombo's can be held responsible for a mosquito......

I agree LJ! That is just ridiculous - could have happened anywhere. Last time I checked mosquito bites are not life threatening.

If that's your criteria for judging a restaurant, you'd never eat anywhere in Portugal. You on the pop or wa!

I always thought that the hard-working energetic Portuguese main waiter was the owner of the premises but during one meal he informed that a German chap own its. That explains the German football TV matches always on show and many German beer varieties available.

Excellent food and a very enjoyable place to visit. Highly recommended.
