Pao de acucar is part of the Grupo Auchan who also operate the hypermarket chain Jumbo. There has been a Jumbo in Faro for many years and one will open in Portimao in the next couple of months at the new shopping complex Aguas .

There is also a petrol station being built on the carpark of Pao de acucar in Lagoa, so hopefullly we will start getting supermarket discount petrol prices.

what lovely news! a bit of competition should sharpen things up a bit.

Filled my car up this afternoon in sunny Bolton, and paid £1.43/lt

Fuel price are generally fixed in Portugal there is very little " at the punp " variation .

The " discount " usually comes at the superstores such as Continente at Portimao , 5c off days, or 5c/ltr off with 50euro or more purchases at Continente reclaimable at Galp garages.
They also give you an equivalent credit to spend back in the shops.
I would expect something similar at Pao a sucar, spend a certain amount to get the discount.

Matryx thats expensive, I too live in that area/ Bury side, but didn't pay anywhere near that during last week for petrol, it was around 1.29. Was that price for Diesel or Petrol. Good gracious surely it hasn't gone up again in the last 6 days.

It was premium unleaded, because I have a stupid car, but it was on Blackburn Road. Nonetheless, it's crazy whatever you drive.

We just paid £1.27 for unleaded in Stockport. Fortunately I don't do anything like the mileage now that I did before retiring.

Sainsbury's & Asda are the most competetive around our area Matryx, but it depends if you are in that area of those supermarkets with petrol stations attached, otherwise I think it's pointless travelling any distance to fill up, with what it cost you to travel you are no better off.

Unfortunately, tax makes up over £1/lt of the total cost, so there is just no avoiding it, we all have to travel.
