Does anybody know if there is a good old-fashioned cobbler anywhere in the Carvoeiro area :)

There is one in Lagoa, a South African/Portuguese, so speaks English. He is located in the side street, next to the Chapel of Rest in the market square (near Chrissys restaurant},

Just to complete the loop - pair of men's shoes soled with leather and rubber heels - €20.50 at the cobbler in Lagoa recommended by Jaylay (thank you).

The same job in the UK - £42 :)

Well you could probably buy them in the USA for less than in the UK but unless you live there it's not of much use to you.

The point I was attempting to make - which clearly I didn't manage to do is - the cost to have quality leather shoes repaired in Lagoa is a fraction of the cost for the same job in the UK - fact.

I couldn't care less if you can buy leather soled shoes in the UK or anywhere else for the cost of the repair in Lagoa - it's irrelevant

Good point by shanagarry (though a little tetchy  ) - and I don't know where you could buy leather-soled shoes for less than £20 un the UK - and I wouldn't buy them anyway because they would be very poor quality - probably just a sole with a lace!
