In memory of Mike, Chislehurst.
It is with deep sadness that I heard today from Janet, Mike's wife, that he passed away last Sunday. He had been unwell recently, and had been in and out of hospital, but, sadly, he did not recover.
Sharen and I will always remember him for his trust and generosity in renting us his villa on ADM. Having seen our appeal and then viewing us on the webcam one wet and stormy evening he offered us the villa (for many, many Christmases), usually offered to family and friends - of which we were neither, and from thereon we had a 'friendship' that culminated last year in meeting him and Janet for the first time. He was a charming man and we got on very well indeed, often corresponding via emails and PMs.
We'll miss him, but we won't forget him. The forum has lost one if it's longest standing members (he joined in January, 2003); and I am sure many others will miss him too.
The funeral is 27 August. Janet has requested that those who wish to make donations in his name should do so via Cancer Research. If you need his home address, please PM me.
RIP, Mike.

I am so sorry for the loss.
We had corresponded by email in the past and I used to look forward to his words on the site.

Well that is very sad - even though I had never met him - and he was a good contributor to this forum - huge condolences to his family - did anyone have any idea he was unwell? - I somehow always imagined him to be a youngish man (not that it makes any difference).

Apparently he'd been unwell for a few months. He was only 63 years old.HampshireRich wrote:...

Very sad news. We never met but were relatively near neighbors in north Kent and shared a misguided passion for Charlton Athletic.... life is sometimes so so cruel.

Sad news. Like others I didn't know Mike at all, apart from reading his posts on here & having something vaguely in common as I live around the corner from him.
Condolences to his family.
