portimao sardine restaurants

Post by snaj1 »

HI All,
2nd question of the day.
Can anyone tell me how to get to the sardine restaurants at portimao.
A google location will do.
We have been to the Ferragudo ones and would like to try the ones at Portimao

Thanks

Go over the old bridge - take the first right then right again - where the road narrows turn left and you should be right behind the sardine restaurants where there is lots of free parking.

The old bridge from sesmarias. Go to ferragudo, drive straight through and out the other side. When you get to Aldi (or Lidl, can't remember which) turn left and you'll come to the bridge.

Thanks Phil,

I think I know where it is now. Looking forward to visiting now.

Ferragudo Sardine restaurants v Portimao Sardine restaurants. Any opinions?

Sardines are superb where ever in the Algarve. Rather than go to the tourist places on the keyside in Portimao try the ones under the tunnel by the bridge. This is where the locals tend to go. I always go to Dona Barca here.

Definitely do not go to the new restaurants, walk under the bridge to the old ones under the arches, they're great, never been in August though.

Another option is to take the water taxi from Ferragudo to Portimao then walk down the prom to the sardine restaurants.

I agree with Phil, the ones in the tunnel are superb, very basic restaurants but the Sardines are great and reasonably priced!
