Carvoeiro in April

Post by Matt_in_Leeds »

Hi. We are booked to stay at Colina da Lapa in a weeks time. We are travelling with 4 and 1 yr old children. My better half is mildly panicing about the weather (and therefore suitable clothes for the kids). Would it be fair to say that it is likely to be fair in the day, and cool during the early evening?

Also, we will need to get to a decent Hypermarket or similar when we get there for baby provisions etc. Can anyone recommend anywhere? (We have a car so distance is not really a problem).

Thanks.

P.S. I am sooooo pleased I found this website before I visited... so much useful info, and a great expectation of a wonderful holiday!

Hi Matt,

You will find an excellent hypermarket called Intermarche on the road in from Lagoa to CVO - you cant miss it

Weatherwise it should be warm but not necessarily hot during the day, and it will be chilly in ehe evening

Staying at Colina da Lapa you are very near the lovely Caneiros beach, there is also a very popular restaurant, Rei das Praias - can recommend it.
Hope you enjoy your holiday

Thanks Ellen. I presume this restaurant caters for children? We still need a high-chair for our youngest...

Hi Matt, I am sure the restaurant will cater for children, we have found them to be friendly and helpful, if the weather is nice you can also sit outside on deck - we were there last weekend.
It is a popular beach with young families ( as well as not so young)
Enjoy

Caneiros beach is three generations of my family favourite beach in the world ever - there you go, doesn't get much better than that!!!!

Hi Matt - we are also out with our 4 and 1 year old next week - I think you will find the weather at times will be surprisingly warm - in other words have a good think about sun protection for the little ones - the UV swimsuits by polyotter and the like are fabulous as are the hats that they make.

From what I have seen of Colina da Lapa you will have a great time.

We have spent quite a lot of time in Carvoeiro with our children so if there is anything you (or your better half) need to know please feel free to ask

Graham

PS You are only a few minutes from Playoasis - an indoor padded play and climbing place - well worth bearing in mind if the weather turns either too hot or too cold/wet - my two love it there.
