Oh no !! :(

Not this recurring (about every couple of months) subject - we all have our own favourites depending on taste.

More important in these tight times are comments on the 'not so good, overpriced, rude, off-hand,lousy house wine, hidden extras' - together with the 'good value prato do dia, good quality house wine, extra friendly and accommodating' - places to eat.

Value is the name of the game.

Best Restaurants

I agree with you Roy, best value for money is very important now. I think quite a few people who perhaps havn`t been to the Algarve for some time will be quite shocked at the prices when they come over this summer. Restaurants that were favourites will now be lower on the list.

Ok out here in Holland a decent 2 course meal with a couple of beers is around €25. So now which restaurants would you recommend in CVO for about the same money. Have to say though last time I was back in Swanage a Sunday dinner plus a beer was about a tenner (€11) and was well worth the money !!

... we as a family tend to eat in more now, so they can charge what they like whether in CVO or anywhere else, you have the choice to either pay up or stay away. It will be purely on any restaurant's head if they hike prices up so much as not to attract customers. Any price rises now will need to be justified in their standard of customer service levels, food presentation and delivery of good quality and in some cases exceptional food. In my book there are very few exceptionals.
I work in sales and we have had to do take our levels up a notch in customer service and delivery of goods just to keep existing customers. Retention is the word, get right and you may just survive.

My advice is to venture out of Carvoeiro, leave restaurant hill and there are delights to be found.

Please do not hesitate to add your good addresses. As the site name suggest it is intended to cover all of the Algarve.

i have to agree if the prices rise this year we will be eating in more this is the first year we are doing two weeks and it might be one week eating out one week eating in. i know they have to make a profit but we only have to spend the same as we always had. put the prices down get more customers people will pay for quality but only if its worth it we dont want to be rip off so the one bad meal and that customer is gone they have work hard all year to buy that meal and thats importent to them.
