Will I Be Disappointed

Post by marcoxl5 »

Eversince I first read about Carvoeiro I have had an almost overwhelming desire to visit. So much so that I said when we eventually go to the Algarve I will not consider anywhere else. Having booked a villa here I have been doing intensive research ( something to do with excitement tinged with infatuation ). Looking at pictures and videos though I have seen what seems to be too many cars about. This and the fact that it seems to be a really busy town seems to take the holiday resort with that 'mediterranean' feel away. I hope this isn't offending any residents and stalwarts of Carvoeiro it's just that I had this perception of it being a place that was typically Algarvian and it just 'grew' to be a holiday resort rather than a town by the sea. I don't think I'm doing a very good job of making myself understood here but I hope somebody is following me and can put my mind to rest.

If you come to Carvoeiro expecting to be disappointed you probably will be. The opinion of anyone visiting anywhere is totally subjective, what one person likes can be totally unsuitable for someone else. Think what you should do is come to the Algarve with an open mind and decide if you like it. By the way the Algarve is not on the Mediterranean. 8)

It is a very busy resort - there are many cars. Cvo town centre is not the place to be if you do not like cars. Doesn't bother me - I spend enough of my life living in the country with only tractors for company.

I assume it will be like this at the end of May. You know I feel quite liberated. At least I know what to expect now and can therefore enjoy the holiday more. If we turned up unawares I think I certainly would have been disappointed. Besides there are no cars on the beach or in the restaurants. Just one other question - are there any shops that do 'supplies' for a 6 year old?

I feel the same Fmm :)
We live in completely rural surroundings and I love coming to Carvoeiro to have some 'life' !
I love the 'cafe society' there and also its 'intimacy'..with everything on my doorstep...I often take my lunch to the beach and just lie back listening to the sound of the sea. To me its perfect.
Theres shops for your little one Marcox all within yards of the beach. Have a lovely time

Not sure what you mean by supplies...there are a few toy shops...is that what you meant?

My 7 year old spends hours wandering around the shops trying to spend his (my) money. Lots of toys, beach games, football kits - you name it, they have it.

That's exactly what I meant fmm. We'll take enough to pay for all meals and then the same again for my daughters sources of entertainment
