Thanks Carol for another informative newsletter. I always look forward to see what you have to tell us. Thanks for keeping us up to date on what is planned for the village. I noticed that you mentioned in your letter that the bottom part of the out road was only going to be pedestrianised in the summer months. Does that mean it will become the out road again off season? I also hope the changes planned will not change the village for the worse.

As I asked in another post, where does the information come from about the car parks etc? Is this more rumour or is there some official source. I would really like to know as I have heard more rumours than I care to mention but we are somewhat short of hard fact. In this instance, I really hope that the picture of the proposed car park area is not where they are putting it. Apart from the fact that it is right behind my apartment, the walk back up the hill from town is not for the faint hearted when it is very hot, and I am not sure whether it will be policed as effectively as it is in the centre of town.

The new car park (multi storey it is rumoured :o) is going to be next to the market, like the market it is in a dip, so will not expect it to be much higher than the market building.
The site Carol mentioned, the owner is hoping to split, the front plot facing the main road is designated for a large villa and the land behind, the owner is trying for planning permission to build a hotel.

Worth waiting for, as always. I love Carol's conversational style of writing - it's as if she is writing for me only.

Keep 'em coming.

Thanks for all the Carvoeiro news Carol...Im sorry I missed the 'Beto Kalulu' band, love Brazilian-style rhythm (Geninia in Colombos often plays this and I love it :)

Pleased to hear about the road past Dancone becoming pedestrian. Ive always thought it a dodgy road for walkers...now with my equally dodgy leg, Ill be able to relax and take my time walking up there.

Agree about O Casarao making the best chicken piri piri. When we lived in Lagoa we often ate there or had takeaways (along with some Almond tart & beers)..delish :P

Hi everyone. In answer to your questions regarding the changes to the square and car parks.

Everything I said in the letter regarding the changes to the square are correct. I spent yesterday morning at the Freguesia de Carvoeiro who confirmed everything. With regards to the car parks. Nothing has been finalised yet, but there is space on part of the land in the photos for 250 cars, part of this area is for construction but he would not confirm anything else. With regards too the market site. Again nothing has been finalised. They are thinking of demolishing the market, as most of the underground work has already been done, there will be space for 250 cars with the market above. I did miss out the changes to the road that passes the GNR. This is going to be for residents and the emergancy services only. The only roads into Carvoeiro from Monte Carvoeiro will be the Mato Serao road which comes down by Dirty Nellies and the Solferias road. There will be additional parking for 78 cars at Algar Seco. There are more plans for this area but again nothing has been finalised, from what he allowed me to see it is going to look great. In the square there will be no concrete only calcades or coloured stone work and wood. I hope everyone is now satisfied with this update. I only print what is fact which is why I paid a visit to the Freguesia.

Sorry my reply was late but we have the grandchildren staying and I was unable to check until Tuesday.

Regards

Carol

So there is no news as far as car parking is concerned? Nothing has yet been decided? I think that my confusion is that in the newsletter it appeared to be fact. Thanks for checking - I will be interested to hear how this pans out. My solicitor said that the land next to the Mirachor is private and that plans have been put forward for building a property.

Carol could you please fill me in re the above quote. Is the Monte Dourado road going to be the permanent road out of Carvoeiro? Thank you. :)
