Public swimming pools

Probably not the type of pool you are looking for and I don't think that it is heated. However there is a very nice pool behind Algarve 2000 Bar & Restaurant up by Rocha Brava and they charge 5 Euros a day.

Directions: Proceed out of Carvoeiro up Restaurant Hill, past the Tivoli Almansor and turn right by the Colina Sol apartments, follow the road round to the left and you will come to Algarve 2000.

Many thanx 4 all the super advice info 2 date.
Have just emailed Al Mansoor Hotel 2 see if I can use their heated indoor pool. will keep you all posted if I get a reply, favourable or not . ta all.

Sorry Sally J, if this response missed your last visit, but we spent 4 (long) summer months in UK and have only recently returned to CVO. We are now into swimming using Silves public pool. We chose Silves over Lagoa because it looks such an impressive building, and it is. Three indoor heated pools and a Jacuzzi. The main pool has lanes and no shallow end. This morning there was a small group training in 2 of the lanes, with the other 6 available for the 3 of us swimmers. It is rarely any busier. As previously reported you need "proper" swimwear (no bikinis), a cap and flipflops. You also need to present your passport, but no medical cert. requirement. The cost is still 3 euros. If you enjoy swimming, you will love this place

The pool at Lagoa also seems quite nice. There is a main pool with some lanes and a children's pool. The same thing applies, you need proper swimwear and I have been told no cert is required (the Centro de Saude say this is no longer required) but I have one anyway. My youngest has swimming lessons there with school but we plan to go as a family to encourage them to swim more. Outdoor pools are way too cold at the moment!

Many thanks for all the info.
We shall try out Silves next April/ May when we return.
Just out of interest, what is the temp of the pool.
I am glad we no longer need a med cert as I was very dubious of getting one as I have mobility problems and COPD( Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Never gets in the way of a good sherbert or two though.

Twas 29C yesterday, which is perfect for swimming. The other pools are maintained at a slightly higher temp., with the jacuzzi at 35C. The middle pool replaces the shallow end of the main pool, so keeping swimmers and the rest apart. It works very well.
