Wonderful photos but the whole thing is quite frightening. Apparently whenever this volcano blew it triggered off its larger neighbour and the resulting fall out not only destroyed the grazing land in Iceland but also the arable land of Northern Europe and in the 18th century eruption this helped to ferment the French revolution. Everyone tends to assume that this problem will pass but actually we may have to make some big adjustments in our lives.

The irony is that one guy had spent 20 years studying this volcano, but was out of the country when it blew, last I heard on the radio was that he was stuck in Paris.
