Linda and Russell will be leading this walk into remote countryside up in the foothills of Monchique. The start is nicely shaded and flat and then we head up a gradual hill until we come to a small baragem and the hunting lodge. Then we loop round the valley heading mostly downhill whilst enjoying the amazing views. The walk is on wide dirt paths and the distance is 10 km, medium grade 3. Bring a pole if you use one for some of the downhill sections. Rules: wear good footwear, bring a drink, walk at your own risk and no charge.

Meeting point: Cafe Pasto Riba E Serra, Rasmalho. Meeting time: 9.45am.

Directions to meeting point: Exit the N125 at Portimao following the sign to Monchique. At the roundabouts keep following the sign for Monchique. You will come onto the N266, then pass a petrol station on the left. After a km you will come into Rasmalho and the cafe is on the left hand side.

Please park on the right hand side as we will car share to the start of the walk which is 4 km further along the road. We drive down a dirt road to the parking area.

The cafe should be open for coffees before the start.

THERE WILL BE A RIVER CROSSING AFTER ALL THIS RAIN. HOPE WE CAN GET ROUND IT.

Great day out walking, still lots of water flowing and we had 6 water crossings but managed to get round them all. The dogs had a great time. Lovely views down the valley on our way back. Just 9 walkers and 2 dogs and we all stayed for lunch at the cafe in Rasmalho.
