Christmas Walk and Lunch : Monday 2 December 2024

Just confirmed restaurant is open...see post at end


It's a just over 2.5 hours and it has a couple of steady inclines, but is otherwise predominantly flat(ish).

Difficulty ( on a scale of 1:5) : most is 2 (moderate) but a short part is 3(energetic)

Start : 10.00.....but please be there by 0945 if you want a coffee and order lunch.

Duration :about 2 hours 30 mins.

Optional lunch at Casa da Vinha. Not sure of current price, expect about 17€.

Directions : drive from CVO to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 7 kms until you see a turning on the left signposted "Barragem do Arade 3 kms".......the signpost is in a small triangular traffic island, which has a large palm tree on it.

Drive in the direction of the Barragem for 1km when there is a cafe on the left ( A Rainha): turn right, signposted Canestros and Gregorios.

Drive through both Canestros and Gregarios for 3kms then make a sharp left turn, almost doubling back on yourself.

Drive for 2kms until you come to a T junction at the top of the hill, turn right , drive through the village and Casa de Vinha is on the right. Please park opposite.

Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain.....I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.

Hi all
Just to confirm......lunch at Casa de Vinha is ON, they have confirmed.....due to numbers though ( 16) price will be 15€ plus drinks.
We can pre-order tomorrow morning when arriving for walk/coffee.

There was some debate over the length of the walk..... but last time we did it, about 2 h 45 mins or 11 Kms..

Somewhere we had a translation error...it wasn't 15€ plus drinks, it was 15€ including drinks.....just as well, as litres of red & white flowed....
