WALK ON 27TH MARCH: Vale Fuzeiros
WALK ON 27TH MARCH: Vale Fuzeiros
In the absence of our esteemed leader I am honoured to be asked to organise the next walk.
This will be one of the Classic CVO walks. It is circular, well marked but with a few hills to start with and a wee bit of history - Beautiful views, ancient menhirs & tombs!
Duration : about 2h00m, may be slightly less
Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : 3, energetic with a few up and downs near the start.
Start: 10H00.....but please arrive by 09H45 if you want a coffee!
Directions :
From CVO. Drive from CVO to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 7 kms until you see a turning on the left signposted "Barragem do Arade 3 kms".......the signpost is in a small triangular traffic island, which has a large palm tree on it. Drive in the direction of the Barragem for 1km when there is a cafe on the left ( A Rainha): turn right, signposted Canestros and Gregorios.
Drive through both Canestros and Gregarios for 3kms then make a sharp left turn, almost doubling back on yourself.
Drive for 2kms until you come to a T junction at the top of the hill, turn right. We will meet and park at Casa de Vinha (where we will lunch) and this is on the RHS - if you get to O Gralha restaurant you have gone too far!
It is ESSENTIAL that you indicate below if you can come and whether you want lunch. We will take and submit orders for lunch before we leave but if you wish one of the house specialities, liver and onions, then you will need to pre order this by Friday at the latest.
Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain. I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
Any questions, please call Willie W on +44 7715174723 or willie.whitesmith@gmail.com

Re: WALK ON 27TH MARCH: Vale Fuzeiros
It would be good if we could all (those who are lunching) be at the start point on Monday, Casa da Vinha, by 9.45 as they are asking if we can submit our meal preferences before we set off. Only one liver & onions has been requested!
21 walking, 16 definitely for lunch & 3 maybe.

Superb walk today if you forget that 7 of the 20 got ‘wee’ bee stings!
Lovely, friendly lunch at Casa da Vinha at 15 euros per head including a small contribution to the charity.
Thanks, as ever for Rick for sourcing extra wine to satisfy everyone.
Don has promised to post some pics.
Suggest next similar walk at this location we either add on an extra ‘Geof’ loop or start at 10.30. Walk we did today was only just under 2hrs. Really good though.
