WALK - MONDAY 28 FEBRUARY 2022 - RIBBA A TORRINHA - CLOSED

WALK NOQ CLOSED Meeting Point: Café Casa De Pasto Riba E Serra, at Rasmalho. Time: 10.00am
Russell and Linda will be leading this walk which is about 9kms and takes just over 2 hours. The first part of this walk is on new tracks which a group of us recce-ed a few weeks ago. There is a gradual uphill climb at the start and one short steep ascent and a short steep descent, therefore it is a grade 3 walk (medium). We can enjoy some nice views and enjoy the quiet of the open countryside. The usual rules apply: wear suitable footwear, bring water, poles if you have them, no charge and walk at your own risk. WE WALK CLOSE TO SOME ACTIVE BEE HIVES.

Directions to meeting point: Follow the N125 towards Portimao then turn off and follow the signs for Monchique. At the roundabout take the left turning for Monchique (N266). At the village of Rasmalho you will see the Café Casa De Pasto Riba E Serra on your left. Park on the right-hand side of the road, opposite the café. The café should be open for coffee. We will drive up to the starting point of the walk which is around 3/4kms further along near the brown sign on the right Ribba A Torrinha.

For anyone wishes to stay for lunch the cafe do a typical Portuguese menu of the day for less than 9 euros. Numbers for lunch are limited as there is only one waitress.

The walk is limited to 20 people, please be prepared to car share if you travel alone as parking is limited at the start. The phone contact on the day will be 0044 7960552618. Please indicate below if you will be joining us for the walk and if you wish to stay for lunch.

We took a breather before we headed up the short steep part.

A nice day yet again to venture into the unknown territory on this new walk. We only took one wrong turn and completed the 9kms in2 1/4 hours. Then back to the cafe where 6 of us stayed for lunch and had very fast service.
